Privacy Policy

Who we are

El Coco Media is a media production business working in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We shoot drone and video work, build websites, and edit and publish content for clients.

This site is a single page plus a few reference pages like this one. It has no accounts, no logins, and no shop. We are the party responsible for the data described below.

To reach us about anything on this page, email info@elcocomedia.com.

What we collect

When you send the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, and your message. We also record the IP address the message was sent from. We use all of it for one purpose. That purpose is replying to you and keeping a record of the conversation.

We do not sell this information. We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not use it for advertising.

When you just read the site

Our host keeps standard web server logs. These hold your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. Every web server does this. The logs are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.

If you allow analytics, we also collect the usage data described in the next section.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser.

Analytics is switched off until you say yes. The first time you visit, a small banner asks whether you allow it. Google Analytics is blocked from storing anything until you choose "Allow analytics". If you choose "Decline", or if you ignore the banner, nothing is stored and no analytics cookies are set.

Your answer is saved in your browser's local storage under the key ecm-analytics-consent. That value never leaves your device. It only exists so the banner does not ask you again on every page.

To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The banner will appear again on your next visit.

We run no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking pixels.

Third parties

A few outside services see some data when you use this site. Here is the full list.

The reel is embedded through youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube does not set its tracking cookies until you actually start the video.

Stop Forum Spam is a shared blocklist. We check the sender's IP against it to filter spam before a message reaches our inbox. Nothing else about you is sent.

How long we keep it

• Contact form messages stay in our email for as long as the enquiry is live, and for up to two years after that as a business record.
• Server logs are kept by our host on their own schedule, which is normally a few weeks.
• Analytics data is held by Google for 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you. You can ask us to correct it. You can ask us to delete it. Email info@elcocomedia.com and we will handle it within 30 days.

You can refuse analytics at any time using the banner, and you can withdraw permission later by clearing this site's data in your browser.

You do not have to use the contact form. Emailing us directly works just as well, and it skips the spam check described above.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses and property owners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no version history, so the page always shows the current position.
